PLANS FOR PORTFOLIO PROJECT-
For our portfolio project, we have started organizing how to approach the project. Beginning with "Initial plans" like our genre, and what it would generally consist of, as well as our approach and our final draft. My team consist of Jade, and Carolina. Our goal is to create a well rounded portfolio that can be successfully made into a film opening. In the coming weeks, we will focus on creating a more thought our plan that will help create the vision for our film.
-Our plan consists of going for a Mystery genre for this film opening. Even though my initial plan was to create a crime induced horror opening, we all agreed and decided to stick to the mystery genre as it can be a very fun and a broad appeal to various audiences as well as a good formed story can create a sense of intensity within the film opening. My team and i want to focus on the eerie and ominous feeling that comes within a mystery film genre. We intend to focus our film towards a main female character, also bringing and adding a type of female representation for the main focus of the film. Developing the character is an approach i would like to consider as it allows the flow of creativity to be used with each one of my group members. With developing a character it also allows the creation of set design, costume design as it correlates with the characters life itself. As well as creating a relationship with the audience and the film, opening.
APPROACH-- Our main goal is to set the state of mystery film opening, as the protagonist is made to lose her thoughts into a focus of Static forms taking place with flashbacks and reasonings of what led her into the specific location she is held in. Our main focus for this opening will be lighting as well as mise-en-scene, to create a certain tone for the character. We plan to use mostly close up and medium shots to create tension along with mystery with the opening sequence. Using these shots will also create a sense of appeal towards the scene connecting with the audience. Shots such as extreme close ups, tilts, wide shots, and mid shots help focus as well on the editing techniques with overlaying voices and the lighting of the set. The light is intended to be dim, low lighting along with a rugged overall setting. Our main actor focuses in showing her mental state which is projected within the environment. Developing context for the background, introduces the protagonist and provides context for the story, helping visualize the information viewed and provided.
