Production Process Editing #1

 EDITING DAY 1

- For our film opening project i am the designated editor for our group ass i have the most experience out of the 3 of us, yet we still work together to have more than one perspective throughout the editing. To be honest I was so excited to start the editing process for our film project, as I had the exact image on my mind. Yet, always before I start to edit, I go over the storyboard to make sure the image in my head is the one we all worked together as a team. After i went over everything in my head over and over again, i started editing, putting all the pieces together in the puzzle. While editing, i realized that i needed a little more inspiration  to help me with the process.

-So some tools that i used throughout the process was watching some tutorials that helped me with the way i wanted to present the credits in the film. At first i wanted to incorporate some glitchy text but quickly after i added the effect, immediately i decided to take it off and change it as it didn't correlate as well as i thought it would, since our film is more slow paced and the glitch makes it look more rushed, it just didn't go together. So i decided to stay with a simple fade in, to give it a eeriness towards the entrance of the credit as well.

PROCESS-

- I ran into a few problems while i was editing on my first day, as the app Premier Pro takes and drains a lot of battery life. I literally went from 50 to 5 percent in a span of 10 minutes, trying to finish up a section running for my life to save the project every 5 seconds. Since i was at school at the time, i didn't bring my charger to school, so immediately when i got back home i charged my computer and sat my butt on the chair and started to edit again.

- I also ran into a few snags with lumetri color. Yet, it wasn't because i don't know how it works,  my team and i just didn't clarify how we wanted our flashbacks to look like. Now, since it is a flashback, it means it is a memory from the past, in which it would make sense to have the scene be set in black and white. As i lowered the saturation, one of our first flashbacks is where Avery is over the body covered in bloodied hands, so the fact that it was in black and white, we couldn't see the color of the blood. As i talked over with my team, i showed them both option and we decided that thee black and white is sufficient as you can already tell there is sufficient blood on the hands to infer it is blood. Along with the corpse at her side.

-Into the first day of editing i'm glad i figured out. these problems and communicated with my team so we could all decide on one decision together. As well as finding out new skills and what works and what doesn't within our chosen film genre and pace. Overall, Editing day 1 has been a good start into our production process.
