PROCESS-
- Since we had our sets ready and done, we decided to divide our production days into another 2 days. Our first day was set for the scenes with my dad in it, so the interrogation and the office scene. As well as some flashbacks scenes which were recorded on day 2. On day 3 we filmed our main scene with Avery in her prison cell.
DAY 2-
- Day 2 was shot on a Friday, where Jade, Carolina and I started by filming one of our flashback scenes since it had to be shot in the daytime. I was also quite thankful that the weather was on our side and it wasn't rainy at all but the complete opposite! We included one of our props: the bloodied marker, which we used fake blood to decorate it with as well as giving Jade a makeover with the fake blood as she was going to act as the "best friend" or murders victim: Raven. After filming the murder scene we went along with filming the arrest scene, which is also another flashback. Where Carolina, playing as Avery Dawson, s being taken into a cop car while still secretly having the murder weapon in hand.
- After the flashbacks in the daylight were taken, we could finally move inside to take both the interrogation scene and the Office scene. The process of filming outside didn't take up much time yet when we had to move everything inside that's where we used most of our time. While Jade and Carolina fixed a few things with out set, I had my dad read his lines which i had sent him before the shoot. I went over with him how he should pronunciate some words since he is not the best at speaking english, yet he did really well in the end! With Jade taking behind the scene's shots while i filmed with my camera and we had both our actors, everything was going smoothly. We started shooting at around 1:00 pm and we ended around roughly 6:20 pm.
DAY 3-
- Day 3 was shot the next day on a Saturday. Yet now only Carolina and I were shooting together since Jade was unable to come, yet we did have her on face time calls throughout the shooting of Saturday's scenes so she was aware of what we were doing. Carolina came at 5:00 pm to my house and we started to film her scenes as Avery, where she is trapped and locked in her prison-like cell. Before we started filming the scenes we obviously had to get her makeup and costume ready for the shoot. So my mom helped us with the makeup since neither Carolina or I are too talented for makeup. We went with her tired, baggy eyed look. As for her hair, we added some water and some spray that kept her hair greasy looking and frizzy. After she put on her hospital gown, we went on to start our filming process.
- Throughout the filming process we had a few bumps along the way, one of them being the fact that we only had 2 backdrops, one of the walls were just white, which was the wall behind Carolina as she sat on her bed looking across to another backdrop. So when we had to film scenes where you could see her from the front, Carolina and I moved the bed towards the side backdrop wall and used that backdrop as her background for her face front view shots. One of our last scenes wee had to shoot was were we had Avery coming out of her flashback frenzy back into reality by a phone call, so it came from a close up to then zoom out and become a medium shot as she walked towards her gate and watched my Dad taking the phone call. One challenge with this is that to zoom out my camera was very stiff, so to zoom out, the lens would sort of stick to itself and cause me to have a non-smooth zoom out shot. Turns out I had to apply a little more pressure so the zoom out would turn out smoothly. Overall, our filming process went quite smoothly with a few bumps on the way but we fixed them quickly as a team!
