Project Idea

 Idea-

- Now that we have come up with the set idea and realized what our genre wants to consist of. My team and I have created a story that surrounds the genre of thriller and mystery. Our idea consists of a protagonist: Avery Dawson who is played by one Carolina Rabachute Crepaldi who is part of our team. Our protagonist, Avery is held inside some sort of prison cell, in which her costume design consists of a type of "hospital gown." She holds a very tired expression and wet disheveled hair. The room she is located in only holds a mattress with one sheet over it.

- She starts out staring out towards a wall, where she stands slowly to walk towards it and writes on it. She first adds a line across 4 lines to signify 5 days like this:

-After she finishes drawing the line, she writes a a word "NEVAR". We wanted this word to signify something meaningful, yet mysterious and clever. If you flip the word "Nevar" around it spells "Raven". Raven is the name of her friend which was found dead and stabbed with a tool. As Avery finishes writing this word on the wall, she steps back and starts to panic as she has flashbacks of what happened to her friend. (In this moment the audience doesn't know what the word NEVAR means, which is purposeful as we want to create mystery and suspense at this time.)

-The flashbacks are going to be quick cuts of the crime scene of how Avery got into the cell in the first place, as she was found sitting in front of her friend body with blood all over her hands. Which is her first flashback, her hands all bloodied, other flashbacks would include the lights of a police car, the body that was found, the tool which was used to murder the girl, and an interrogation room. The flashbacks will be back and forth with the present, in which she is panicking in her cell. Yet in the past she yells the name RAVEN while she is in the interrogation room, the name is going to blend in with the sound of a phone ringing bringing her back o the present. Showing the officer in charge of keeping her in her cell. The officer is taking the call and talking to another officer.

INSPIRATION

-We want to use minimal lighting to ensure the uneasiness within the film as well as for the audience. The eeriness and silence with only a hum in the background and low suspenseful music. Some of our inspiration is the film opening in the movie "Vertigo" which helps communicate the uneasiness with various close up shots and slow shots to showcase the eery feeling within. The opening in the film "Psycho" was also one of our inspirations to showcase the editing style as well. It features a tense, intimate feeling which is what we want to incorporate within our film.
