Set Design Creation -
-To start a film it is crucial to include a set that represents the film throughout the production, there are various designs made for the sets that create and establish the atmosphere and time period. It also helps with the development of the characters and the storytelling involved. Using colors, lighting and structure creates the specific emotions that the design is meant to entail on the audience like suspense, fear, sorrow or joy.
-With a well designed environment and the correct props and furniture it helps increase the immersion of
an audience. As well as making the story more believable with mere imagination that helps run the vision along with the story. It involves designing, panning, and constructing the specific visual and spaces in which the characters are supposed to interact and where the events take place. Enriching the characters development enhances the story experience.
-With this information, my team and i wanted to create a set design that enhances our characters development as well as shows the story within the film. The atmosphere we are trying to create is a sense of uneasiness and mystery which helps define our design. Our image takes us to a prison based room where our actor will be held as if she is convicted of a crime. We are using a backdrop with a dark setting and minimal lighting which helps create the mood. We are also using a dog gate which I own to represent a gate. A mattress will be seen as well with minimal coverage (dirty) to make it look rusty.
